D’Arcy received a year 7 Academic Honour Award presented on Speech Night.
D’Arcy’s early schooling was at Mary’s Mount Primary School in Kalamunda from Year 1–3 where he was an eager participant in sport and all school activities.
D’Arcy then moved to Guildford Grammar School from Years 4-9 where he represented the school in

Only child of Bill Slater and Christina Slater.
D’Arcy was a 6th generation descendant of the pioneering Slater family of Goomalling.
He was born at St John of God Hospital in Subiaco and was confirmed at St Brigid’s Catholic Church in Midland.
D’Arcy’s great love was tennis and he was coached by David Culley. At home D’Arcy was very involved in the racing and riding school interests of his parents and had a regular race day tipping competition with former Olympian Richard Sands.When asked what he wanted to be for the Year 7 year book D’Arcy’s caption read to go to uni and then be a racehorse trainer.
